Hi all!
Title explains it all really...:)
The shows that I love from that time period (that I can think of at the moment lol..). are:
1. The Golden Girls
2. Boy Meets World
3. Saved by the bell
4. Step by step
5. Family matters
Those are my faves for sure!! I've seen every episode and I hope to oneday be able to get the golden girls on dvd same with boy meets world..:)
I also liked a little known show on Nick called Hey Dude! It was on from 1989 to 1991 originally but they reran it a lot in the 90s. :)
I miss those days..they just don't make tv shows the same anymore!! :(
Definitely, definitely enjoy Golden Girls (we have the whole set on DVD). I'm also a fan of pretty much anything from that era Nickelodeon (my family would tell you I had a HY00GE crush on Clarissa from Clarissa Explains It All, and I'd tell you they were full of lies). Was quite the fan of the show though—perhaps because Clarissa would try to solve pretty much anything by making a computer game of it.
Oh wow I forgot about that show..I used to watch Clarissa! Good times! :) Yeah, Nick was awesome in the 90s!
When I was a kid I liked Doug and Rugrats..I wasn't to fond of when Disney took over the Doug show and Rugrats changed a lot...
saved by the bell.. used to watch that every single day:)
they don't make tv as good as that anymore
Oh yeah...I remember Clarissa; it was okay, but not my favorite. And nic definitely was better in the 90s than it is now. I used to like Rugrats when I was younger, and I love Family matters! Steve Ercle cracks me up! I'm pretty sure I spelled his name wayyyyyyy wrong, but oh well...lol
Here are the ones I can remember. Some of these started in the 90's and continued into this century, and others began and ended in the 90's.
Friends
Third Rock from the Sun
Brooklyn Bridge
Caroline in the City
Cosby
Cybil
Dream On
Evening Shade
Frasier
Oh—Disney took over Doug. That would explain why it randomly turned less than stellar. I definitely enjoyed it far more when Nickelodeon was at the helm.
I think Post 1 is talking about the 1980s at least that is when those shows were on.
But, being a 20-something in the 1990s had to love Friends, Seinfeld and ... well, Frasier was hillarious most times.
And, every man I knew, no exception, groused at work the day after Mad About You because the wife or girlfriend would make them watch it.
I am very tired of all the shows that make all men look like pigs or fools, which is precisely why I did like the ones I mentioned. Probably others slippin' my mind I just can't think of now, but when I think of my twenties, those are it.
Oh yeah I remember the show cybil! Mary anne from that show was just so psycho she was histarical!! :)
Lol it's odd I remember all these little things my mind has so much useless info lol..
Family matters started in the 80's same with saved by the bell..but I do remember those shows they got huge in the 90s especially family matters and boy meets world..it wasn't a weekend until you watch TGIF!! lol! :)
I had forgotten about Mad About You. Loved that show.
Oh yeah, Mad About You! Went downhill after Mabel, though.
I still love Frasier. I'd have loved him to reunite with Lilith, in the end.
Golden Girls, I liked, but have seen so many repeats by now that I can take or leave. It's 80s, not 90s. It started in 1985. I remember watching it every Saturday night with my mom and sister, and grandmother, whenever she visited. She would say she remembered Bea as Maude in the 70s, and now that I have seen that show, I prefer it to Golden Girls.
Ah yes, the days before most TV sucked. ALso in the nineties was a little known show that didn't run for very long, which was unfortunate because I loved it. BUt it was called Scortch the Dragon. As you can guess it was about a dragon who lived wit this ordinary family and, to conceal his true nature to the world at large, could apparently turn into a puppet that the dad would use as part of his work. Then there was You Can't do that on Television, which I fervently wish they'd make available on DVD. Yeah it was more 80s than 90s but it was still good fun. And does anybody else remember Mr. Wizard's World?
Shows I love from the 90's are: Rugrats, Hey Arnold, Doug, and Roseanne. That's all I can think of for now.
My mom absolutely loved ROseanne. I was more of a Cosby fan myself.
